The export volume of pesticides in China has reached as high as 2.05 million tons, hitting a new historical high! 

On March 17th, the 25th China International Agrochemicals and Crop Protection Exhibition (CAC2025) grandly opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). During CAC2025, the 2025 CAC Conference Week gathered the wisdom of more than 100 experts from around the world, covering three major fields: crop protection, fertilizers, and agricultural technology.

Among them, at the "18th China International Forum on the Development of the Pesticide Industry", Cao Bingwei, a senior agronomist and Deputy Director of the International Exchange and Service Division of the Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, analyzed the situation of China's pesticide import and export as well as the new changes in import and export through detailed data in his report.

He pointed out that as the world's largest pesticide producer and exporter, China's pesticide export volume reached a historical high in 2024, amounting to 2.05 million tons in terms of 100% active ingredient, with an export value of 113.3 billion yuan. In 2024, the proportion of exports to production increased by 5 percentage points from 85% in the past three years to 90%. In 2024, both the export volume and value of formulated pesticide products exceeded those of technical pesticides, reaching 1.071 million tons and 61.36 billion yuan respectively.

He emphasized that for the high-quality development of the pesticide industry, it is necessary to coordinate the international and domestic markets, complete the transformation and upgrading of the industry as soon as possible, and continuously extend towards independent formulated pesticide brands, so as to contribute China's strength to global agricultural production and food security, including that of China itself.
